What does being a Bloomer mean to you?

I strongly believe in focusing on people, empowering them, and providing support so they can truly enjoy their work. As a bloomer, my passion lies in having meaningful conversations, creating a safe space for people, and helping them gain clarity. It makes me happy to see people come up with new ways to tackle challenges.

Where is home for you?

Home is where my small family is - my partner and my two girls. We are originally from Germany but decided to move abroad seven years ago. We started in England, enjoying the English lifestyle for a few years. In 2020, just before the pandemic, we made another move to New Zealand. We had travelled here before and couldn't pass up the opportunity to work and live in this beautiful country.

Who are you at home?

I enjoy a relaxed lifestyle with great conversations, even better with sunshine and ice cream. I love listening to podcasts - “How to Fail” is one of my favourites. I enjoy reading books and recommending them to other people - Brené Brown’s “The Gifts of Imperfections” is one of my recent favourites.

Who are you when you are on fire?

When I'm "on fire," I live in the present moment. I don't dwell on the past or worry about the future; I simply enjoy where I am and what I'm doing.

What does an off day look like for you?

On an off day, I can get caught up in my thoughts, worrying and overthinking.

What are your best self care tips?

Going for a walk, practicing Yoga, having a bath, spending time with my family and friends, and rearranging my furniture – I love it, because it always gives me a fresh perspective.

Romy's background

Throughout my career, I've been fortunate to lead teams and learn incredibly valuable lessons from these experiences. What mattered most to me as a team leader is being there for my colleagues, understanding their challenges, and helping them find new ways forward. These experiences, along with my love for meaningful conversations, led me to become a professional coach (ICF certified). Coaching, with its emphasis on listening, asking thought-provoking questions, and creating a safe space for reflection, deeply resonates with me. It's incredibly rewarding to see people thrive and grow, and I feel grateful to be part of their transformative journeys.
